THE AGING ATHLETE

Keeping you in the game!

Getting older doesn't mean giving up what you love to do.  But some injuries require specialized knowledge about tissue healing and appropriate training loads when there is an underlying history of injury or osteoarthritis or simply because of the physiological changes that accompany aging.  Whether or not we choose to accept it, with aging comes changes in our maximum heart rate, muscle mass, bone density, coordination, sensation and flexibility.  These changes require adaptations in training including increased recovery time, changes in training volumes/methodology and an increased focus on hydration and nutrition to minimize injury risk and maximize performance.   Whether you are recovering from a procedure (or trying to avoid one!) or continuing to compete or participate in your sport of choice, our team is here to help guide you to optimum performance for a lifetime of athleticism.
